HiLite Academy’s Life Skills Workshop Series is a high impact, in person Saturday experience designed to prepare teens for independence, responsibility, and real expectations in both life and work. These are the skills employers consistently say are missing and parents know matter long before graduation.

Each workshop is practical, structured, and facilitated by HiLite coaches alongside vetted subject matter experts.

Spring 2026 Core Areas of Focus

GOAL DEVELOPMENT AND FOLLOW-THROUGH
Teens learn how to clarify goals, create plans, and follow through consistently. This builds discipline, accountability, and resilience the same traits employers value and that determine long term success.

INDEPENDENT LIVING
Teens learn how to manage time, responsibilities, emotions, and daily expectations without constant reminders. These skills directly translate to reliability, communication, and professionalism employers look for and parents want to see at home.

FINANCIAL LITERACY

Teens learn how money actually works before mistakes become expensive. Budgeting, credit, debt, earning income, and financial decision making taught in a way that supports smart choices in both personal life and the workplace.

How It Works.

  • Each skill area includes 3 to 4 standalone workshops.

  • Sign up for the sessions you want.

  • Workshops are under two hours and held on Saturdays in person at HiLite Academy in Winter Garden, Florida.

  • Students can attend individual workshops or complete the full series.

Coach Sandra, a former D1 tennis player with over 12 years of experience in international college admissions, brings a dynamic blend of expertise in resilience, determination, and personal growth to her coaching practice. Coach Marcy Miller, with over 30 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, education, and coaching, specializes in empowering young adults to uncover and maximize their potential through a combination of diverse methodologies and personal attention. Her extensive background in student engagement, leadership training, and social-emotional learning, coupled with her own journey of perseverance, uniquely positions her to guide young adults on their path of self-discovery and career success.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are these workshops for?

These workshops are designed for high school students in grades 9–12. Graduating seniors and recent grads are also welcome.

Does my teen have to attend all 12 workshops?

No. Each workshop stands alone. Families can register for individual sessions, complete one pillar, or enroll in the full series.

How long are the workshops and when are they held?

Workshops are held on Saturdays and run 2 hours.

Is this tutoring or academic support?

No. This is life skills and future readiness training. Many students see improved school performance as a result of stronger organization, planning, and follow through.

Is this therapy or counseling?

No. These workshops are skills based coaching and education. We focus on practical tools, decision making, communication, and real world readiness.

Who facilitates the workshops?

HiLite coaches lead each session. Select workshops include vetted subject matter experts to enhance learning while HiLite maintains structure and student engagement.

What will my teen leave with?

Every workshop includes take home tools such as checklists, templates, scripts, and a simple action plan so students can apply what they learned immediately.

My teen is shy. Will they be put on the spot?

No. Participation is encouraged but never forced. Activities are structured so students can engage at their comfort level.

My teen lacks motivation. Will this still help?

Yes. We focus on systems and structure, not hype. Students learn how to follow through even when motivation fades.

Do parents need to stay?

No. Parents may drop off. When helpful, we provide a short summary so you know what your teen is practicing without turning it into conflict at home.

How large are the groups?

Workshops are intentionally kept small to stay interactive and high quality. Capacity may vary by topic.

Is this a good fit for neurodivergent students?

Yes. The approach is structured, practical, and supportive. Many students benefit from the focus on routines, executive function skills, and clear systems.

What if my teen misses a workshop they registered for?

We will credit your account toward a future workshop or program. 

How is this different from what schools offer?

Schools often teach information. We teach execution. Students learn repeatable systems and real world skills that translate to school, work, and adulthood.
